  1. Welcome to OCIP 2012! Please mark your attendance on the attendance sheet.

What is OCIP? • Service Learning in an overseas context • Awareness of social issues in less developed neighbouring countries • Areas we help out with: • Education (English teaching, IT resources) • Construction (Kindergarten, library, etc.) • Improvement of facilities (Painting murals, building water pumps etc.) • Cultural exchange through interaction with the locals • NOT just a fun trip to with your friends

OCIP Journey • Pre-trip (more intensive after promos are over) • Selection camp (20 to 21 July 2012) • EXCO meetings, sub-comm meetings  Programmes, Social-cultural, Publicity, Logistics • Teambuilding camp (12 to 13 Oct 2012) • Donation drive • Dry runs / rehearsals of cooking, cultural performances, etc. • During the trip (24 Nov to 7 Dec) • Vietnam • Cambodia • Post-trip • Surveys • OCIP Exhibition / Recruitment week (2013) • Assembly presentations (2013) • Trip videos, OCIP blog entries • College annual, IOTA articles

  4. OCIP Selection Camp (20th – 21st July) • 2D1N camp organised by the JC2 OCIP alumni • Physical and mental training to prepare you for OCIP • Compulsory Selection Camp briefing on Monday, 16th July, 5.30pm • Consent forms and camp fee to be handed in during the briefing • Attendance for selection camp is compulsory. Absentees will be disqualified.

  5. Admin matters for OCIP • Actual cost for each trip is approx $1,600 per student • Subsidies will be given from various sources, such as MOE, YEP, Tote Board • Singaporeans will get the most funding, followed by PRs, then foreigners • Subsidies for foreigners are not guaranteed, unless you are a Vietnamese or Cambodia going to your respective country • Students who are already on Financial Assistance Scheme (SAJC / MOE FAS) will get more subsidy • Any questions on financial matters, please approach Ms Lim HuiChing (ext 257).
