The Centre’s improved the Institute’s capacity in the field of marine sciences through: • * increasing the Centre’s ability in providing scientific advice on stock management • * advising how to provide consumers with safe fish products of the highest possible quality • * strengthening connections and co-operation with the European network of marine and fishery research centres • contributing to the integration of Baltic Sea marine fisheries into the European Research Area • Some statisticsof the project: • 1. Conferences, study visits, workshops, training courses: • 55 visits of the SFI personnel to other European Centres from 19 countries

  3. 2.Study visits to the SFI: 60 young and senior scientists from 12 countries visited the Centre 30 of these derived from the eastern Europe (Czech Republic, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Russia, Ukraine) 3. Courses opened for international participants conducted in the Centre: 24 various courses addressed to Polish and international audience have been taught by the SFI and foreign experts Overall number of participants ca. 420 persons 4. Public Outreach / Education A 25-minute film produced for educational purposes of the SFI’s Gdynia Aquarium ‘THE POLISH BALTIC FISHERY AS SEEN FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF THE SEA FISHERIES INSTITUTE IN GDYNIA’

  4. 5. Increased participation of the SFI in the EU 6th FP The SFI became a partner in 11 new 6th FP projects related to fisheries research
