Integrity and Ethical Development (IED) • Formally known as Dispute Resolution Services • Became Integrity and Ethical Development in March of 2012 • 100% funded by Student Government Association • Activity and Services Fee • Operations & Personnel • Division of Student Development and Enrollment Services • Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities • Integrity and Ethical Development • Student Conduct • Student Care Services • IED Personnel • Director (Full-Time) • Graduate Assistant (Part-Time) • 2 Student Assistants (Part-Time)

Other IED Programs & Services • Excellence in Decision Making Seminars • Students sanctioned by the Office of Student Conduct / Housing & Residence Life • 4 times a semester in a group setting • Since 2012 – 62 Excellence in Decision Making Seminars reaching 358 students • Mediation Sessions / Conflict Resolution • Between roommates, in leadership positions within student organizations, among a group of student involved in a class project • Provide services to students both on and off campus • Since 2012 – 15 mediation sessions involving 58 students • Since 2012 – 35 conflict resolution presentations reaching 989 students, staff, and faculty regarding conflict resolution workshops and training

IED Coaching Sessions • Sanctioned Coaching Sessions • Students sanctioned by the Office of Student Conduct / Housing & Residence Life • Topics related to: anger management, DUI, underage drinking, resisting arrest, minor possession of drugs • Since 2012 – 97 students participated in an one-on-one coaching session • Unsanctioned Coaching Sessions • Topics related to: handling ethical situations, how to articulate your thoughts, fears, and frustrations, big picture analysis of decisions made today, setting goals & producing results, telling YOUR story – experiences that need explaining • Since 2012 – 35 students participated in an one-on-one coaching session

IED Outreach Programming • College Life Skills Workshop Series • Summer Term, Spring, and Fall Semesters • Conflict Resolution – True Friendships, Thinking Before Speaking, Active Listening, Handling Conflict in a Small Living Space • Professionalism – Etiquette Series: Facebook, Email, Classroom, Think Before You Post, Communicating with Professors • Integrity & Ethics – topics to come later! • Since 2012 – 28 workshops reaching 329 students • Request a Workshop • Student Affairs Departments, Student Organizations, Faculty/UCF Classes, Housing and Residence Life, Student Government, Fraternity and Sorority Life, Honors College, Tutoring Programs, Training of Student Staff • 60 minute presentations • 32 workshops to choose from • Since 2012 – 247 Programs reaching 6,187 individuals

Academic Integrity • Partnership with the Office of Student Conduct • Online Academic Integrity Seminar & Coaching Session • Students found in-violation of Academic Misconduct are sanctioned to complete an online academic integrity seminar and participate in an one-on-one 90 minute coaching session

Online Academic Integrity Seminar – Dr. Gary Pavela • Started in July of 2013 – 45 completed • Involves reading articles, references from books, watching a film, and reactions to questions posed • Feedback provided to the student from Dr. Pavela and other tutors associated with the seminar • 9 sections to the seminar • $100.00 to complete the seminar • Coaching Session • Students must complete the online seminar in advance of coaching session • IED receives student’s work prior to coaching session to prepare for discussion • Discussion during the coaching session • Academic progress at UCF • Experience throughout the conduct process • Where are you now in regards to the experience? • Experience talking with the professor about the incident • Does the punishment match the “crime”? • Did you tell your parents or family members about this? • Professor’s message on academic integrity – first week of class / syllabus • Review highlights from online seminar work

  9. Academic Integrity • Partnership with the Office of Student Conduct • IED Academic Integrity Workshop • Students participate in an IED Academic Integrity Workshop if the Professor indicates “Documentation Only” to the Office of Student Conduct

Started in the Fall of 2013 – 7 completed reaching 16 students • Conduct 5 Academic Integrity Workshops per semester • Group setting of no more than 8 students per workshop • RSVP in advance of the workshop • Complete two online assignments • Values Exercise – List 5 values & determine their origin • UCF Creed Assignment – watch a 5 minute video on the UCF Creed & answer 6 questions • Workshop Discussions • Values Exercise – Experience changed or added values • Risk vs. Reward • UCF Creed / UCF Values • Ethical Dilemma Discussion • Evaluation of Workshop

IED Outreach Programming – Academic Integrity • Academic Integrity Module • Promoted throughout FTIC and Transfer Orientations • Completed all on-line • Required of all FTIC and Transfer Students (summer, fall, and spring) – On to-do-list • Purpose of the modules are to assist UCF students: • in becoming familiar with UCF‘s polices on academic misconduct • an understanding of consequences associated with academic misconduct • to learn strategies of how to demonstrate academic integrity • 3 Individual Modules • Maintain Academic Integrity – 9 questions • Tips for Success in Academic Integrity – 10 questions • Consequences of Academic Misconduct – 10 questions

Academic Integrity Modules • 10,060 students completed Maintaining Academic Integrity Module (99%) • oAverage score of 97.277% • o 7,612 received a score between 90 – 100 • o 2,393 received a score between 80 – 89 • o 55 received a score below 80 (did not successfully pass the module) • 9,442 students have completed Tips for Success in Academic Integrity Module (99%) • o Average score of 94.511% • o 8,405 received a score between 90 – 100 • o 1,019 received a score between 80 – 89 • o 18 received a score below 80 (did not successfully pass the module) • 9,365 students have completed Consequences of Academic Misconduct Module (97%) • o Average score of 89.789% • o 6,530 received a score between 90 – 100 • o 2,542 received a score between 80 – 89 • o 293 received a score below 80 (did not successfully pass the module)

Outreach Programming - Academic Integrity • College Life Skills Workshops – Spotlight Series on Academic Integrity • Series every summer term, fall and spring semesters • 60 minute presentations • Topics Include: • Academic Integrity • Developing Ethical Standards • Living the UCF Creed • Campus Ethics • Making Mistakes and Rebounding • Classroom Ethics • Navigating Academic Integrity (presented with the Office of Student Conduct)

Outreach Programming - Academic Integrity • Ethics in Graduate School and Beyond • An elective in the Graduate Studies Academic Integrity Training Program • Facilitated 3 times per semester • 2 hour seminar / 35 in attendance • To date – 12 seminars reaching 252 graduate students • Since 2012 – 44 Integrity and Ethics Presentations Reaching 1,114 Students, Faculty, and Staff
