  3. Equipment • METI ECS Adult Simulator • SMOTS • Audio Mixer and Wireless Microphones • Piped Gases and Vacuum • Anaesthetic Machine and “Capnosim” • Other props • Many part task trainers • Airway heads • IV skills • CVC • Intercostal • Epidural

  4. Faculty • Mostly Anaesthetists • Acute Medical / Emergency Physicians • Senior ODP • Resusc officer • Senior Midwife • CCU nurse • Outreach nurse • Two Simulation Fellows • 1:8 on call • 1 clinical session per week

  5. Courses • FY1 course • Piloted in Jan 2010 • 5 further courses in 2010 • 5 courses in 2011 • 6 candidates per full day course • Excellent feedback • FY2 course • Piloting now • 5 candidates so far • Issues with potential candidate motivation • Shouldn’t be a problem when it is mandatory

Courses • Anaesthetic scenarios • Every other week • CEX for clinical incidents / CICV scenario • Team training • “TCRM” for theatre teams • Integrated communication skills with simulated scenarios • 2 courses run so far (ESH and Crawley) • Have invited DAS sponsored SMART Anaesthesia course • Future developments • BBC documentary following A+E trainees • Transfer course • Paeds Transfer • Trauma • Patient safety topics
