Fractions. An Interactive Activity introducing thirds. We are going to slice our pizza into 3 equal sized pieces. . Each piece is called a third. 1 whole pizza has been split into 3 equal pieces. We write it like this. 1. whole pizza. 3. equal pieces.

  2. We are going to slice our pizza into 3 equal sized pieces. Each piece is called a third.

  3. 1 whole pizza has been split into 3 equal pieces We write it like this. 1 whole pizza 3 equal pieces

  4. We can do this with other shapes and objects too. Each third is the same size.

  5. We can do this with numbers as well 1 = 1 of 3 3 1 of 6 = 2 3

  6. Cutting these numbers in half is the same as dividing them by 2. 1 of 3 = 1 3 is the same as… 3 : - 3 = 1 These give us the same answer.

  7. Now try these 1 of 6 3

  10. 1 of 12 3
