  8. Example #1 • Solve for x: x2 – 9x + 3 = 0 • Step 2: What are the values of a, b, and c • A = 1 • B = -9 • C = 3 • Step 3: Plug in to Quadratic Formula • Step 4: Solve!

  9. Example 2 3x2 – 5x = 8 Step 1: Get in right form 3x2 – 5x – 8 = 0 Step 2: Find a, b, and c A = 3 B = -5 C = -8 Step 3: Plug in to quadratic function

  10. Guided Practice – Trace it back and forth… I used the quadratic formula to solve an equation and got: • With your partner write the values of a, b, and c. (b) Now write the quadratic equation I started with. (c) Simplify the quadratic formula to find your solutions.
