Example of How NIH Will Spend $10.4 B • $8.2 B for research-$7.4 allocated across NIH Institutes, Centers, Divisions, and Common Fund. $800 M remain at the Office of the Director. • $1 B for extramural construction, repairs, and alterations through the National center for Research Resources. • $300 M shared instrumentation. • $500 M for construction & improvements on the NIH campus.

Example of How NSF Will Spend $3.0 B • $2.0 B for research grants already through NSF’s regular peer review process but not funded due a lack of funds • $300 M for Major Research Instrumentation (MRI) program competitively awarded to university researchers. • $200 M to restart the Academic Research Infrastructure program for laboratory construction grants, primarily to Universities
