  2. 2008 Activities and Achievements (1) • Contribution to and interaction with GEO • Identification of the GEO 2007-2009 Tasks that should be supported in priority by CEOS in 2008, • considering the fields of interests and competences of the CEOS Members • Assembling the CEOS SBA Teams • similar approach to that used successfully in 2007 when assembling the CEOS Climate Teams in support of GCOS Implementation Plan • Coordinating the definition of the CEOS “GEO” actions supporting the identified GEO Tasks, • active support of the CEOS SBA Teams, Virtual Constellation Teams, Working Groups, the SIT team and the staff from the various CEOS Agencies • Monitoring progress of CEOS contributions to GEO 2007-2009 WP • CEOS-GEO monthly telecons • Close contact with all actors involved • Implementation of the CEOS Information System together with SEO • Setting up the CEOS Documentation Server.

  3. 2008 Activities and Achievements (2) • Contribution to and interaction with GEO (cont’) • Liaising with the WG Chairs on the WG’s support to GEO • Organizing the review of the GEO Data Sharing Principles. • GEO 2009-2011 WP: • Coordinating the definitions of the new GEO Tasks proposed by CEOS for the next GEO 2009-2011 WP • Organizing the review of the GEO 2009-2011 WP • Preparingthe CEOS report to GEO–V Plenary • Direct Involvement in GEO: • GEO Architecture and Data Committee Co-Chair representing CEOS • Member of the new “Initial Operation Capabilities” Task Force responsible for enabling, evaluating and improving the core of GEOSS

  4. 2007 Activities and Achievements (3) • External interactions • CEOS Response to GCOS-IP • Representing CEOS in R/SSC-CM planning meeting (May 08) • Representing CEOS in WCRP Observation & Assimilation Panel meeting with active support from M. Goldberg (NOAA) • Organizing the review of WMO vision for GOS 2025 paper • CEOS Implementation Plan • Update of the CEOS IP v2 using CEOS IP v1 and inputs received CEOS SBA Teams, Virtual Constellation Teams, Working Groups and the staff from the various CEOS Agencies

Conclusions • After one year of exercise as CEO, 10 more pounds in weight and a renewed wardrobe, it appears that there is a lot of (too much) work for a single man • Already stressed by JL Fellous at the end of his CEO term. • Great motivation among staff from CEOS Agencies and very positive support from CEOS Principals !!! • Closer relationship with other bodies e.g. Climate or Met organizations • Many thanks to all of you (CEOS, GEO SEC and all others) for making my task as easy as possible ….
