  1. TDMoIPin theSAToP Age PWE3 – 58th IETF 10 November 2003 Yaakov (J) Stein

  2. Where does it fit in? TDM Emulation low-rate (T1/E1/T3/E3) High-rate (SONET/SDH) structure-agnostic structure-aware CEP SAToP CESoPSN TDMoIP

  3. Why “structure-aware”? • might need access to TDM constituents • packet loss concealment • data channels • more robust synchronization • frame sync regenerated • multiframe sync maintained • integrity of CAS signaling guaranteed

  4. 2 structure-aware protocols? • CESoPSN • minimum intervention • simple to implement • TDMoIP • enables interworking with ATM CES networks • has dynamic bandwidth (AAL2) mode • integrity of CAS signaling guaranteed

  5. Proposal Request WG to advance both CESoPSN and TDMoIP as information working group items
