  2. The IO moon • The IO moon is the only moon so far that has many volcanic eruptions. Scientist first thought they were craters from asteroids, but from the picture taken by the Voyager they saw that the craters were actually volcanoes. IO has a thin sulfur oxide atmosphere caused by constant outgassing.
