Anne Frank’s writing was translated from Dutch, so at times, some phrases are unclear. For example, “Added to this misery there is another, but of a purely personal kind…” (Frank 55) is confusing. In fact, I had to reread that sentence a few times. On the other hand, Tarshis writes in a very charismatic, fluent way that draws me in. It was really showcased throughout the article, specifically in the beginning (Tarshis 5).
