Procedures for AR • Make sure you are reading in your ZPD. • Check to see if the book is in the AR program- look for the sticker or check www.arbookfind.com. • There may not be anyone near you giving aid. This is an independent task. • Record the Date, Book Title and Author, the Reading Level, and your points earned in your Book Log. • Bring your log to the library each week! • You should know your username and password by the end of the first 9 weeks! • You may test in the Library before school, after school until 4:15, Saturday’s from 9-11, and in your classroom as your teacher allows.

Pre-K, Kinder Reading Buddies • In order to combine literacy skills and oral language development, The Reading Buddies will be a little different this year. • Parents should read the books at home or in the library and discuss the following questions so the student is prepared to answer them without any assistance. • The student will roll a big dice to determine which question will be answered. • Students should be prepared to answer the question loudly and clearly and in a sentence. • For the first nine weeks, students need to do 2 books a week starting August 18. We will model the procedure the first 2 weeks during library class time. Students may answer the question during library time, afterschool, or Saturday from 9-11. • QUESTIONS • Who is the main character? • Where did the story take place? • When did the story happen? • What is the problem? • How was the problem solved? • What was your favorite part of the book and why?
