Quality Management of the Practice Learning Environment • QMPLE is an online database for managing information relating to the quality of the practice learning experience • Modelled on long-standing practice • Quality Standards for Practice Placement • Educational Audits • Student Feedback • Mentoring information • Information collection and reporting • accessible by Practice, University and Students

Why QMPLE? • Setting the Direction Aim 4: Enhance the quality of the practice-learning environment for staff and students • Focus: Develop a national approach to ensure that all practice environments are underpinned by a learning culture that promotes and enhances evidence-based patient care and which complements and enhances the National Excellence in Care (Care Assurance) framework • Action: The roll out of a national online system that captures student feedback consistently and demonstrates the quality of practice learning environments to SENDs and Higher Education Institutes (HEIs), and which aligns and contributes to the National Excellence in Care system currently in development.

  17. Sharing the message - why is student feedback important? It is used by both the university and practice to: • ensure that students' learning needs are being met in a safe environment • inform planning of future practice learning experiences • identify areas for improvements and of excellence which can be shared with others • provide evidence of quality learning and mentorship within the Excellence in Care initiative (Scottish Government, 2015) • provide valuable feedback to mentors and practice teachers on the work they do with students which can be used as evidence for reflection as part of Nursing & Midwifery Council Revalidation (NMC, 2015).   18. Sharing the message - what will QMPLE do for students? The system will give access to: • placement information including welcome and induction packs • contact details and allocated mentor details • student feedback tool which will be readily available to practice in a collated reports and importantly what has happened as a result of all the student feedback each year.

  19. What next? • Agreement of data governance protocols and memorandum of understanding – complete for most HEIs • Implementation within NHS boards • Stakeholder engagement across all universities and practice partners
