  3. What does the Respiratory System do? • The respiratory system helps us to breathe in oxygen and take out carbon dioxide.

  4. Parts Of The Respiratory System • Mouth • Nose • Epiglottis • Trachea (Wind Pipe) • Lungs • Bronchioles • Alveoli • Diaphragm

  6. Mouth Or Nose Nose & Mouth They breathe in air and take out air.

  7. Epiglottis • It stops the food from going into the trachea.

  8. Trachea (wind pipe) • It is a tube that connects the larynx to the lungs, allowing the passage of air.

  9. Lungs • The lungs and respiratory system allow oxygen in the air to be taken into the body, while also enabling the body to get rid of carbon dioxide in the air breathed out.

  10. Diaphragm • Biggest muscle of Body • When you breathe in, the diaphragm moves downward ,causing lungs to expand • In exhalation, the diaphragm moves upward and causing lungs to contract.

  11. Alveoli • Every few seconds, with each inhalation, air fills a large portion of the millions of alveoli. • Oxygen moves from the alveoli to the blood through the capillaries. • Carbon dioxide, moves from cells into the capillaries

  12. Bronchioles • The small airways of the lung extending from the bronchi to the alveoli.
