  2. What does the word Paralympics mean? The Paralympics is an Olympic games for athletes with disabilities.

  3. Where and when did the first sporting competition for people with disabilities take place? The first disabilities sporting competition was held on 1942 March 5 in Vatican City, Italy.

  4. What are the 6 disability groups? The 6 disability groups are Autism(10 C, 103 P) Blindness (7 C, 80 P) Deafness (5 C, 84 P) Learning disabilities (4 C, 52 P) Mental retardation (3 C, 22 P) Neurological disorders (15 C, 365 P)

Describe these sports Some of the sports that we haven't heard about are. • Boccia- this sport is a competitive sport, similar to bowls, but designed to be played by people with disabilities. • Goal ball-Goal ball is a three-a-side indoor court game developed for players who have vision impairments. • Equestrian-Equestrian is a competition in which a horse and rider travel a course and the horse leaps over a series of jumps and completing the course in a set time. The course has many challenges, including changes in direction.

Power lifting Powerliftingis open to all athletes with a physical disability and is classified by 10 weight categories. Powerliftingbecame a Paralympic Games sport in Tokyo in 1964. Women began competing in power lifting for the first time in Sydney 2000.
