Spanish 2 • Focus on Basic Skills • Build on Abilities • Move from Basics & Current Time to Narrating in the two past tenses • Reading in the target language-interactive read alouds • Everyday Themes • Daily Routines, healthy habits and hygiene • Shopping and expressing preferences • Current and past activities

  5. The more students read, the better they get at reading. Extensive reading (ER), is reading a lot of easy, enjoyable books. Reading slow might build specific skills, but reading fast builds fluency. Studies show that the more students read, the more motivated they are, the more vocabulary they have, and the better they become at speaking, listening, and spelling.

How to help your child study… • Flash Cards (Grammar & Vocabulary) • Metacognition of Grammar Topics • Direct Them to My Website • Under Teachers Tab on Groves Website • Remind them to use resources offered there • Suggest they attend x-block or a study session with a tutor here at Groves or on Saturdays at Berkshire to get extra help • Ask them about their homework/online textbook additional practice available

  12. How students can improve… • Engage more in the lesson. (Actively participate and take advantage of available resources (teacher, classmates) during class time. Take the learning process seriously. Utilize the target language.) • Ask Mrs. Schrauwen more questions about concepts / expectations / direction of class. • Utilize downtime in the class to review notes / drill concepts / study vocabulary. • Utilize technology resources for drill practice (conjuguemos/quizlet/studyspanis.com) • Complete homework assignments-Watch Netflix in Spanish • Review fundamental skills from previous chapters / classes. • Study a little bit each night. (grammar and / or vocabulary)
