The Incorporated Trustees of the Islamic Community Fund of HK

The Incorporated Trustees of the Islamic Community Fund of HK has been serving the Muslim community for 30 years. They oversee five masjids and two cemeteries, and are composed of members from different backgrounds. Their responsibilities include maintaining the masjids, supervising the cemeteries, deciding important dates, running madrassahs, and promoting unity within the community.

  1. The Incorporated Trustees of the Islamic Community Fund of HK Serving the Muslim Community of HK for the last 3-decades

  2. A well-organized representative body composed of Muslims from different backgrounds e.g. Pakistani, Indian, Chinese. Board of Trustees is mainly responsible for Looking after five Masjids and two cemeteries

  3. Board of Trustees is composed of 6 members and 1 observer 2 Members nominated By The Pakistan Association of HK 2 Members nominated By The Islamic Union of HK 2 Members nominated By Dawaodi Bohra Association of HK 1 Member and 1 Observer nominated By The Indian Muslim Association of HK

  4. Board of Trustees From these 6 members: One serves as Chairman, One as Honorary Secretary And One as Treasurer These offices are distributed among 6 members in rotation

  6. Jobs and responsibilities of the Trustees 1. Looking after the main five masjids

  7. Stanley Masjid In the past it was under the supervision of Muslims serving in the Correctional Services Department (Prison Police) The Trustees took charge of this masjid in 2003

  9. Chai Wan Masjid is built near the Chai Wan Cemetery

  10. Jamia Masjid Shelly Street Central The historical masjid. Its building is included in the National heritage of HK.

  15. Kowloon Jamia Masjid The largest masjid in HK. It is situated in T.S.T.

  17. Maintenance and supervision of cemeteries • There are two cemeteries under the supervision of the Board of Trustees: • Happy Valley Cemetery (The oldest cemetery with 6462 graves) • Chai Wan Cemetery (928 graves)

  18. Jobs and responsibilities of the Trustees 4. Roet-e-Hilal Board of Trustees is responsible to decide the important dates following the Islamic Lunar Year so that the Muslim community is informed on time and atmosphere of unity is maintained.

  19. Jobs and responsibilities of the Trustees 5. Taleem-ul-Qur’an Board of Trustees is also responsible to run the Madrassahs in each masjid in order to ensure that our children get the best possiblefacilities for learning of Qur’an and other Islamic knowledge.

  20. Performance of The Trustees • During the last few years, the Trustees has completed the following important tasks: • Expansion of Kowloon Masjid capacity. Approximately One thousand more people can pray. • A separate hall is constructed for children’s Taleem-ul-Qur’an. • Two family residential quarters have been constructed. • A new hall is constructed for ladies’ prayer and for girls’ Taleem-ul-Quran. • An expansion of one conference room at the ground floor. • Two separate offices has been constructed for both Imams. • Renovation of the Library and management office has been completed. • Medical room is also re-constructed. • New air-conditioners are installed in the entire campus. • Washrooms are relocated to the lower floor.

  21. Performance of The Trustees • 11. Twenty extra places for Wazoo at the back side of hall are constructed. • 12. Twenty-five years old sound system has been improved.

  22. Performance of The Trustees • The Trustees appointed a Chief Imam. The Chief Imam initiates and supervises the important tasks in collaboration with fellow Imams and the management team under the leadership of the Trustees. • Some of the important tasks are listed below: • Leading the daily prayers and topic-based well-prepared Jumma Khutba. • Provision of Arabic Language courses. • Special learning session for grown-up students and adults. • Translation-based learning of Qur’an and Arabic language for girls. • Special Islamic learning sessions for students during summer holiday. • Regular meetings among fellow Imam to ensure smooth run of all the matters. • Arranging briefing sessions for visitors from various backgrounds such as university students, representatives of different organizations, etc.

Performance of The Trustees • Meetings and conferences with religious leader of other religions on interfaith basis in order to promote true spirit of Islam. • Arrangement of special learning sessions for the newly converted Muslims • Nikkah of the newly wedded couples • Leading the Janaza prayer • Inspection of food stuff of companies and factories regarding issuing of ‘Halal Certificate’ • Meeting Muslim prisoners and enhancing their motivation towards Islam • Special programms during the holy Ramadhan • Dissemination of Trustees decisions to fellow Muslims and all the concerned parties • Arranging special courses for Muslims going for Hajj/Umrah
