Bruce/Armstrong Lock & Fold Board Replacement Tools for Board Replacement • Circular saw w/carbide blade • Drill • Hammer • Chisel • Utility knife • Nail set • Vacuum • Blue tape 3M 2080 • Dust broom • Dust pan • PVA glue –Armstrong Everseal • Table Saw/Compound Saw/New blade • Felt or drywall tape

  3. Bruce/Armstrong Lock & Fold Board Replacement Tape around damaged board and mark where cuts should be made

  4. Bruce/Armstrong Lock & Fold Board Replacement Drill 3/8” holes at all four corners ( Mark your drill bit with tape to the thickness of the floor this will prevent from drilling into the underlayment)

  5. Bruce/Armstrong Lock & Fold Board Replacement Set the circular saw to the thickness of the replacement board. Make cuts, using circular saw, being careful not to cut into boards that do not need to be replaced.

  6. Bruce/Armstrong Lock & Fold Board Replacement Stop at the drilled holes

  7. Bruce/Armstrong Lock & Fold Board Replacement Vacuum the area

  8. Bruce/Armstrong Lock & Fold Board Replacement Remove the Blue Tape

  9. Bruce/Armstrong Lock & Fold Board Replacement #2 Carefully Remove both end pieces #1 Remove center piece #4 If you cut the underlayment, tape cuts with poly tape and vacuum area #3 Carefully Remove long side pieces

  10. Bruce/Armstrong Lock & Fold Board Replacement If the replacement board is the same size as the damaged board, remove the end groove and side tongue Side Tongue remove End Groove remove

  11. Bruce/Armstrong Lock & Fold Board Replacement Removing the Tongue/Groove ( Make several passes with a utility knife to remove the tongue). With Utility knife at 45° angle Remove Side Tongue Remove Groove by flipping board over onto face to cut. Save the cut piece

  13. Bruce/Armstrong Lock & Fold Board Replacement Slide a piece of felt or drywall tape under the repair area.

  14. Bruce/Armstrong Lock & Fold Board Replacement Apply PVA glue to saved groove piece, then slide the piece under the board on top of the felt or drywall tape

  15. Bruce/Armstrong Lock & Fold Board Replacement Apply the adhesive to both grooves on the floor and on the side cut of the replacement board

  16. Bruce/Armstrong Lock & Fold Board Replacement Insert long groove and tap into place. Place a weight on the board until glue sets (6-8 hrs.)(Clean the excess adhesive from the face of the board, using a clean white cloth damped with water before placing the weight).

  18. Bruce/Armstrong Lock & Fold Board Replacement If the replacement board is not the same size follow these steps Place the new board on top of the opening mark the board to size and cut off the groove side X Cut Off

  19. Bruce/Armstrong Lock & Fold Board Replacement Remove the groove from the scrap cut piece by flipping board over onto face to cut. Save the cut piece

  21. Bruce/Armstrong Lock & Fold Board Replacement Using several passes and holding the utility knife at a 45° angle trim off the long tongue from the replacement board.

  22. Bruce/Armstrong Lock & Fold Board Replacement Slide a piece of felt or drywall tape under the repair area.

  23. Bruce/Armstrong Lock & Fold Board Replacement Apply PVA glue to saved groove piece, then slide the piece under the board on top of the felt or drywall tape

  24. Bruce/Armstrong Lock & Fold Board Replacement Apply the adhesive to both grooves on the floor and on the cut side of the replacement board

  25. Bruce/Armstrong Lock & Fold Board Replacement Insert long groove and tap into place. Place a weight on the board until glue sets (6-8 hrs.)(Clean the excess adhesive from the face of the board, using a clean white cloth damped with water before placing the weight).
