Art Class ATIbraham Elementary with Mr. Wilkinson
Let’s take a look at what students have done by grade level… We try to coordinate our projects with what the students are learning in their classrooms.
KINDERGARTEN Let’s begin with
We focus on colors, shapes, lines, composition and different media…
as well as improving motor skills and learning new art vocabulary.
FIRST GRADE First graders work more with different tools and media…
and the emphasis is on: repetition, pattern, geometric shapes and texture.
SECOND GRADE Awareness of self and community is emphasized…
Positive and negative space and still-life drawing are explored.
THIRD GRADE Third graders use a variety of media and techniques.
The study of nature and illustration techniques are emphasized.
By third grade, students are better at organizing their projects.
FOURTH GRADE Fourth graders learn that art is a multi-step process…
FIFTH GRADE Fifth graders integrate different media and techniques.
They use all the skills they’ve learned to improve their projects.
As fifth graders head to middle school, I hope they will continue to enjoy art.
