  4. Finding Fiction Books If the Call Number starts with the letter F, the book is a fiction book. The book will be found in the fiction section, which is marked by the letters of the alphabet.   7. How to Search for Books by Author If you know the name of an author, you can search for books written by that person. First, type the author’s name in the Find box. Then, click on the Author button.

  17. Finding Nonfiction Books If the Call Number is a series of numbers, the book is a nonfiction book. The book will be found in the nonfiction section, which is marked by signs showing the call number groups. The books are arranged in numerical order.   19. How to Find and Use Lexile Measures Your Lexile measure is a guide to your reading level. A book’s Lexile measure is a guide to its difficulty. Your teacher can tell you your Lexile measure based on your WESTEST 2 scores. Follett will show a book’s Lexile measure which is based on how difficult it is to read.

  20. Your Lexile range is from 100 points below your measure to 50 points above it. Books in your range should be not too hard but not too easy for you to understand. If a book is too difficult for you to read, look for a book with a lower Lexile measure. If a book is too easy, look for a book with a higher Lexile measure.
