Pathway to Hydrographic Surveying Certification: VHF, Marine Duties, and Small Craft Licenses

This certification model outlines the requirements to obtain credentials in hydrographic surveying, including a VHF radio operator license and Marine Emergency Duties (TC MED-A1) certification. Candidates must possess five years of varied experience in hydrographic surveying, with possible exemptions for those holding relevant IHO/FIG Cat A or B qualifications. Submitting a Hydrographic Field Survey Training Report after a minimum of four weeks of supervised field training is essential, along with successful completion of necessary exams. Graduates in Geomatics are encouraged to pursue the Certified Hydrographer (CH) and Certified Professional Hydrographer (CPH) designations.
