  1. TOPIC :- Demonstrate a method to increase fertility of land to increase crop production

  2. What is soil fertility ?????? • It is the simple method of making the soil fit for use and also for the better use of the earth’s resources. • It refers to the use of different methods to increase the soil fertility by the use of many type of external and internal sources available :- • Ploughing – The turning up of soil. • Tilling – The manual improvement in soil physically • Liming – Obtaining higher yield from same type of crop • Use of earthworms – Collection of earthworms in a place • Vermi composting – Collection of reed worms in a place • Use of Manures(recommended) • Use of Fertilizers( upto a limited use)

  3. PROCEDURE IN CURRENT USE TO INCREASE FERTILITY OF SOIL AND ITS SIDE EFFECT • EXCESSIVE USE OF FERTILIZERS • Ground water contamination. • Acid rain • Ozone depletion • Killing of bacteria present in soil. • Can cause cancer also. • Marine dead zones • Change the chemical nature of soil • Depletion of water table

  4. PROCEDURE IN CURRENT USE TO INCREASE FERTILITY OF SOIL AND ITS SIDE EFFECT • EXCESSIVE USE OF PESTICIDES AND INSECTISIDES. • Abdominal pain • Lung disease • Serious arthritis problem • Even can cause death • Pollutes the environment • Increases the level of CFC’s • Hence increases Global Warming

  5. THE CONDITION OF INDIA WORLDWIDE THE CONDITION OF INDIA WORLDWIDE India also called as the land of gold, is now being exploited due to the narrow mindness of people. They because of their small productive skill, are still using traditional methods and so are not getting success. Here is a table which shows the placement of India worldwide

  6. AGRICULTURAL CENSUS - 2013

  7. WHAT SHOULD BE DONE IN ORDER TO PROTECT CROPS(MY METHOD) • GROWING MORE PER ACRE • LEAVES MORE LAND FOR NATURE. • Now, without the use of modern facilities • The farmers are growing crops in a big piece • Of land. Without doing so, if they will use less • Land but modern methods, then more crops • Can be grown

  8. WHAT SHOULD BE DONE IN ORDER TO PROTECT CROPS(MY METHOD) DOING MULTISTOREY AGRICULTURE - In this method, we will be taking a small piece of land and then supply it with soil, with the provisions like drip irrigation, provision of sunlight, and by use of sprinklers. So doing so, a small piece of land can be used to obtain more profit by growing a no. of crops at the same time.

  9. ALTERNATIVE METHODS THAT I SUGGEST. 1) Use of neem dust - This method can help us in maintaining the fertility of soil and can also keep the plant free from pests 2) Biological pest control – This is the method of releasing the special animals or planting seeds that do not harm the crop but kill the pests

  10. ALTERNATIVE METHODS THAT I SUGGEST. 3) Use of vermicompost and earthworm – In this, we will allow reed worms and earthworms to settle in field and in this way, fertility of soil can be increased. 4) Biological weed control – In this, we will be releasing the insects who will be eating the weeds, but will not destroy crop. Hence, the use of weedicides will be prevented.

  11. ALTERNATIVE METHODS THAT I SUGGEST. 5) Planting of zaid crops – We will be planting leguminous plants in between of two season crops so that the fertility of the soil can be maintained 6) Rhizobium– This is the chemical necessary for nitrogen capacity of soil and can either be provided by the planting of legumes or by the use of manures.

  12. ADVANTAGES OF MY METHOD • It saves time and additional work of labour, too. • It is cheaper and can be practiced easily. • With the help of government schemes, the farmers can get good seeds and facilities at a low rate. • This leaves more land for the social use of human beings. • This is profitable for developing county, especially for our country, INDIA.

  13. A COMPARATIVE STUDY Method which are Encouraged by me Methods which are Not liked by me. Common methods used now a days CROP ROTATION CROP ROTATION FERTILIZERS CROP FARMING FERTILIZERS PESTICIDES CROP FARMING PESTICIDES WEEDICIDES INTERCROPPING WEEDICIDES INTERCROPPING

  14. Hence we should take a pledge of increasing % of agricultural output from 7 to 25 % if we want our country INDIA to succeed in the field of AGRICULTURE. THANK YOU THUS, BY DOING SO WE CAN ACHIEVE OUR GOAL
