The effects of jaundice range from minor complications to deadly conditions if left untreated.

  3. Jaundice - Causes Jaundice is a condition that is caused when our body does not process bilirubin properly. Bilirubin is a yellow-coloured waste material that is present in the bloodstream. Excess bilirubin can leak into the tissues, and this causes the yellowing of the skin. There are many causing factors of jaundice, and it is important to know the cause to provide relevant treatment. Various infections and other diseases like malaria, sickle cell anemia, liver cirrhosis, hepatitis, liver cancer and many other conditions can be the cause of jaundice.

The excess bilirubin which enters the bloodstream gives it a yellow tinge that starts at the head and then spreads down the body. Dark Urine and Pale Stool The dark urine is again the work of the excess bilirubin, and it means the condition has progressed the initial stage.
