  2. Stentor • Cilia near mouth (gullet) • Trumpet shaped • Macronucleus looks like string of beads • Is sensitive and will recoil into a ball • Found in waste water treatment plants and freshwater ponds

  3. Amoeba • Pseudopods • Nucleus • Food vacuole • Contractile vacuole • Found in freshwater and saltwater • Some are pathogenic

  4. Vorticella • Stalked contractile fibril called myoneme, when stimulated will contract like a spring • Cilia near mouth • Inverted bell shape • Found in freshwater ponds and streams

  5. Euglena • Flagella • Chloroplasts • Eyespot • Contractile vacuole • Usually found in quiet ponds or puddles

  6. Spirogyra • Helical arrangement of chloroplasts • Cylindrical cells connected end to end in long green filaments • Outer cell wall composed of cellulose • Large vacuole in center surrounded by cytoplasm
