  4. Campaign period September 1 to October 31, 2016 • Destination level Task Forces and Monitoring Cells • Partnership of Tourism Organisations and Trade, Local Self Governments, Educational Institutions, Kudumbasree, NGOs, Social Organisations, NSS Technical Cell under DTF www.kittsedu.org

  6. We shall ensure all tourist destinations in the state will have: www.kittsedu.org www.keralatourism.org

  7. Ensure destinations are free from Plastic • Provide enough dustbins in the destination • Transfer or Encourage others to move waste seen in the waysides to bins • Place awareness boards discouraging dumping wastes in road sides • Install Cameras for monitoring illegal waste dumping • Provide information about people involved in illegal waste dumping to Destination Managers • Decentralised waste management mechanisms at households and establishments • Develop mechanisms for scientific waste management in the destination • Make cleanliness a part of our culture www.kittsedu.org

  9. Encourage establishing more public toilets in the destination • Consider the options for private land where there is limitation for land availability • Consider options of Mobile Toilets • Awareness campaign for keeping toilets clean • Ensure voluntary participation in toilet cleaning • Ensure the cleaning staff deputed do the function properly • Any laxity in cleaning may be brought to the notice of Destination Managers • Encourage options for private toilets in the destinations • Ensure public toilets are clean www.kittsedu.org

Ensure Roads are well maintained and cleaned properly • Ensure pavements for pedestrians are in place • Ensure maintenance and up-keep of bye roads • Ensure enough street lights are there in the destination as well as it works properly • Ensure the drainages are well maintained • Install signboards depicting directions, accommodation facilities, public places etc. • Ensure the details given the signboards are correct and has good visibility • Ensure proper maintenance of signboards • Provide cloak room facilities for travellers • Provide dress changing rooms for tourists at beaches, waterfalls etc. • Provide enough benches/seaters in the destination • Ensure communication facilities at the destination • Ensure first aid facility in the destination • Provide facilities for short-trips within the destination ensuring authentic rates www.kittsedu.org

Ensure good public water distribution system • Make required arrangements with authorities when there is water scarcity • Conduct periodic testing of water provided by water distribution agencies • Install kiosks that provide safe drinking water for tourists • Encourage boiled water for drinking • Avoid wastage of water • Ensure wells and ponds in the destination are clean • Ensure the restaurants in the destination has valid licenses from Commissionerate of Food Safety www.kittsedu.org

  15. Create awareness on Climate Change • Encourage planting of trees in the destination • Do not destroy trees or plants • Encourage eco-friendly constructions that takes care of minimum resource use • Promote usage of eco-friendly devices and equipments by establishments and hotels • Encourage Alternate Energy sources • Encourage use of vehicles that do not consume petrol/diesel • Encourage bicycle ride within the destinations • Ensure all tourism activities are eco-friendly www.kittsedu.org

  17. Ensure prompt service of law enforcement agencies • Any law breaking issues need to be brought the notice of authorities • Vigilant on all illegal activities • Ensure safety of all tourism related amusement activities • Special attention should be given on the safety of adventure activities as well as water-based activities • Provide first-aid facilities at the destination • Develop crisis management system in the destinations to address any contingencies • Encourage use of appropriate technologies for achieving this www.kittsedu.org

  19. Establish information centres that provide authentic and latest information • Explore the possibilities of establishing 24 x 7 working information centres • Establish information kiosks using latest information technology facilities • Establish mechanisms for Tourist feed back system • Establish provision for complain registering by tourists • Ensure complaints registered by tourists are addressed promptly www.kittsedu.org

Training for various stakeholders including • Auto-Taxi drivers • Tourism Police • Life Guard • Tour Guide • Tour Operator • Street vendors • Homestay/Serviced villa providers • Houseboat owners/staff • Owners/Staff of Ayurveda Centres • Hotel Owners/Staff • Restaurant Owners/Staff • Tourism Information Assistant www.kittsedu.org
