  1. Welcome to Mustang Nation Night Girls Athletics We offer the following sports: basketball, cross country, diving, golf, gymnastics, soccer, softball, swim, tennis, track, volleyball and water polo

  2. Our philosophy Our athletic programs are aligned with our campus mission to honor our traditions and develop leaders by maintaining high standards for our athletes. Girls Basketball and Track ‘12 Senior, Hillary Rosenjack, was named the recipient of the 2011 Davey O'Brien High School Scholarship Award.  She is shown receiving the award from Davey O'Brien's son David O'Brien.

  3. Athletics is expecting to be double-blocked – meaning they will meet every day and it will be 2 of their 8 classes. • 1st and 5th periods: JV tennis, cross country, gymnastics, Varsity swim, JV dive • 4th and 8th periods: girls basketball, volleyball, softball, girls soccer, Varsity tennis, golf, JV swim, Varsity dive

  4. Doing more than one sport? • Register for both sports. • If there is an overlap of the seasons the coaches will arrange for tryouts to occur after the completion of the season of the current sport unless otherwise specified. • Students will transition directly from one sport to the next with minimal academic schedule disruption.

  5. In Season vs. Out of Season • Each sport is regulated by UIL to have a season start and end date. Some season dates are very restricted while others are more flexible. • In-season teams may workout before/after school with the coach leading the practice • Out of season means coaches only work with students during the athletic period • Please check the flyer and sport websites for details on season start and end dates

  6. Making the Transition • Greater number of games • More sports to choose from • Compete Tuesdays and Fridays (most sports) • Some Saturdays for practices and tournaments • Practices during the summer, holidays and spring break • Golf, tennis, cross country, football and volleyball all begin during the summer…you must be watching for these dates • Summer opportunities include sport specific skill camps, open gym, weights and condition camps • Contact the coaches or go online to get information about these opportunities

  7. If a student does not make a team they have a few options: • work with the team as a student manager • work as student athletic trainer (they work with our licensed athletic trainers and are assigned sports) • move into next sport of interest • move into physical education courses
