  1. The Centre for Excellence has provided funding for cluster schools to access ‘The Blurt!’.The Blurt is an online platform which allows classes in participating schools to practice persuasive argument, analysis and debating skills and persuasion through moderated discussions. • The platform allows classes from different schools to connect and debate with each other without disclosing details or location. Teamwork in presenting the argument is encouraged but the challenge is against an equally anonymous opposition. Each discussion held between classes is marked and given personalised feedback by Blurt adjudicators. • Topics are ranked by difficulty to encourage a scaffolded learning process and separated into Key Leaning Areas so that persuasion can be integrated into a range of subjects. • Teachers have access to lesson plans, templates, debating topics, writing techniques, games and marking guild lines. • Classes that consistently evaluate and improve their arguments are moved up a ladder and gain points and special achievements for their team. The points are then tallied at the end of the year. • Expected benefits of The Blurt: • Students learn skills required for NAPLAN • Unlimited marking of discussions • The freedom to hold discussions without time constraints • Interact with other classes from around Australia • Access to teacher resources The Blurt!
