  3. Objectives of SCDG Current: Consultation • Development of Element 2 Strategy • i.e. GFOI Space Data Services Future: Service Delivery • Provide countries with space data consultation and services in support of national MRV • Brokerage of data provider relationships • Management Capacity?

Country Templates • Provided for SDCG-4, SilvaCarbon, SDCG-5 • Generally covering: • Status of National MRV and REDD implementation • Remote sensing data, sources and processing • Data issues • Research and capacity • Response to date has been very heterogeneous • Broad range of maturity, capacity and needs

  7. SDCG-4 – Common Needs • Common needs (aid consistency & comparability) • Early warning (MODIS (+…), ScanSAR & SAR) • WTW (L8, S2, radar) • Historical data (1990…) • HR data (RE) for validation (and WTW in some cases) • DEM (30m SRTM, TanDEM-X) • Data support (WELD, assembly, delivery….)

  9. Space Data Services Feedback • Positive, but general in nature • No specific feedback on the Space Data Services has been received from countries to date • Follow-up from SDCG-4 was ad hoc • Follow-up from SilvaCarbon via a future series of workshops • Follow-up from SDCG-5 …?

  10. SDCG Country Relationships • Element 2 strategy provides for a lead agency for each Space Data Service • How does SDCG marshal the capacity to manage country relationships? • What are the available resources from CEOS agencies? • How to leverage institutional capacity in FAO and WB?

Practical Next Steps • Discussions amongst the Leads on roles of SDCG and FAO / WB in country service delivery • Need direction from Leads on FAO / WB roles • Practical steps: • SDCG to respond SDCG-5 country day actions with best efforts • Advance GFOI Space Data Services definition based on country feedback (limited to date) • Continued SEO service provision as capacity allows • Consider the need for an “SDCG Country Coordinator”???
