Purpose of the ABS Management Tool • Support implementation of CBD, Bonn Guidelines and emerging international regime on ABS • Provide practical guidance to: • Users to follow good practice standards in seeking access and using acquired genetic resources; and • Providers of genetic resources in making informed decisions about access and negotiating benefits • User benefits: • Guidance on good practices • Risk reduction and increased predictability • Access under terms supported by providers and broader stakeholders

Workshop Objectives • To share experience about challenges and solutions in negotiating and implementing ABS agreements • To contribute to the completion and implementation of a practical, effective and efficient practice standard for implementing CBD ABS provisions and the Bonn Guidelines: • Review and improve the revised ABS – MT as a CBD/Bonn Guidelines voluntary compliance standard – its content and its structure • To identify and provide guidance on options for implementing the ABS - MT
