GELS Progress? • Recap • Clear requirement for GMPLS control of Ethernet • GMPLS enhancements belong in CCAMP • Ethernet data plane specifications do not belong in IETF • May require charter modification • CCAMP will look at GMPLS routing and signalling protocol application and extensions for Ethernet networks only when there is a clear specification of the Ethernet data plane (subset/profile) from another SDO • Current status is that proponents of various data planes are advancing their ideas in other standards bodies • GELS discussion list remains open 67th IETF San Diego, November 2006
