  3. Jan Luijks • Since 1982 in this industry • Cartrec Netherlands bv and Italia srl • Cartrec: toner specialist (Lexmark, Ricoh, Panasonic) • Member of Dupra • Representative of Dupra at CEN

  4. Setting a standard: why? • Objective: to be able to compare performance • For: Inkjet Toner, monochrome Toner, colour • Under leadership of CEN (Comité Europeene pour Normalisation) • Participants: all national CEN-members, both recyclers and oem’s

  5. CEN: European Authority for Normalisation Members: all national authorities, such as • DIN (D) • BSI (UK) • AENOR (E) • AFNOR (F) • UNI (I) (only Epson!) • NEN (NL) (Dupra for example) Basically oem controlled

  6. Process and Results • 6 meetings were held • Intense discussions between Recyclers and OEM’s, for the first time sitting at the same table • The proposed standard is different from what we initially wanted; compromise • Now: ask opinion of ALL national authorities • Definite version: end 2006

  7. Consequences • FOR THE FIRST TIME WE WILL HAVE AN INTERNATIONAL STANDARD!! • Made in direct cooperation with ALL major OEM’s • Comparison with OEM’s possible, using the standard they agreed upon! • CE approval (CE label on products)
