  1. Challenges Faced by Structural Consultants

  2. Introduction to Plant Piping Industrial piping carries liquids, gases, slurries, and fine particles. The piping system includes pipes, fittings, pumps, valves, and tanks. Two main types Utility Piping – Supports production processes. Process Piping – Transports raw materials or finished products. Used in the food, chemical, textile, paper, and pharmaceutical industries.

  3. What is Utility Piping? Supports production but does not carry the final product. Used to supply chilled water, steam, hot water, air, nitrogen, and process water. Considered non-process piping. MEP consultants optimize the design for efficiency and safety.

  4. What is Process Piping? Carries raw materials or finished products in the production process. Transports fluids, gases, and chemicals to/from storage tanks. Includes pipes, pressure hoses, valves, strainers, traps, and gaskets. Commonly used in industries like food, chemical, textile, paper, and pharmaceuticals. Designed using standard piping codes and various materials (steel, cast iron, copper, plastic, etc.).

  5. Pipe Fittings in Piping Systems Pipe fittings connect, regulate, or adapt pipes. Common fittings include: Elbows, nipples, couplings, unions, tees, reducers, bends, plugs, and caps. Essential for creating a functional and efficient piping network.

  6. Summary Utility piping supplies essential fluids for production but does not carry the product. Process piping transports raw materials or finished products within the system. MEP consultants optimize piping design to ensure efficiency and safety. Proper pipe fittings and materials are crucial for an effective piping network.
