  4. Scientific Method How long will the rocket stay in the air? The rocket stayed in the air for 3.64 seconds. Will the cotton protect the rocket? The cotton did not protect the rocket.

  5. Materials Used Dixie cups Oak tag Construction Paper Cotton Bubble Wrap Tape

  6. Building procedure We first put on the payload and then cut out the cone on the Dixie cup. The dixie cup was where we stored the egg. We put cotton balls around the dixie cup to secure the egg. Then we put 3 fins on the bottom of the rocket, and finally it was ready to launch.

  7. Launching procedure For air we had to secure the bottle on the pump and the pump it with 80 psi air. The we pulled the plug out of the rocket, that sent it in the air. For water we put 1 cup of water and 80 psi air that we pumped in the rocket. Then we counted down to 1. When we reached 1 we pulled the string and the rocket blasted off.

  8. Prediction We thought the rocket will go faster and higher because there will be more pressure and the water coming out makes it gain speed.

  9. Comparison When we had water in the rocket there was more pressure so the rocket did go higher and faster. When we did the air launch it did not go as high.

  10. Conclusion We learned that adding water to the rocket makes it go faster and higher. We also learned that water takes up space so there is more pressure.
