  1. Unified Uranium Accounting D.L. Noss – AREVA NP Inc.

  2. Unified Uranium and NMMSS • Unified Uranium Accounting is a proposal by the Industry to simplify the accounting for Enriched (LT 5%), Natural & Depleted Uranium by treating it as one category or Material Type recorded in gram units.

  3. Unified Uranium Accounting • We currently account for Uranium as follows: • Depleted – MT=10, kilogram units for Element & Isotope • Natural – MT=81, kilogram units for Element • Enriched – MT=20, gram units for Element & Isotope

  4. Unified Uranium Accounting • Advantages of Unified Uranium Accounting • One Material Type • One level of significance (gram), minimizing rounding adjustments • Facilitate element and isotopic mass balances for Physical Inventory • Helps in evaluating the plant ID gain or loss • Eliminate MT changes • Reduce tracking & reconciling of blending activities, both planned and incidental • Eliminate the need for work around schemes

  5. Unified Uranium Accounting • Unified Uranium Accounting is still in the formative stages and DOE/NRC have not been formally approach with this proposal • Industry input and support is needed • Comments and Questions • DOE, NRC, NMMSS, Industry • Next Step?
