Dulles Metrorail ExtensionAt-a-Glance • 23-mile new Metrorail line branching off the Orange Line after East Falls Church • 11 new stations • 5 in Phase 1 • 6 in Phase 2 • Phase 1: East Falls Church to Wiehle Avenue in Reston • Phase 2: Wiehle Avenue through Dulles International Airport to Ashburn • Seamless integration with current 106-mile system

  5. Phase 1: Key Milestones • January 2008: Began Utility Relocation • March 2009: FFGA Approval, Start Construction • July 2013: Construction Complete • December 2013: Begin Service

Route 7 (Leesburg Pike)Relocating Utilities/Road Widening Utility Relocation Continues • 21 utilities: Power, communications, water and sewer • Power lines will be placed underground • Projected Completion: Late 2009 (55% Completed) • Utility companies follow (45% complete) Widening Route 7 • Begins late 2009 • 6 lanes to 8 lanes; Widen median for Metro • Lane shifts will occur around Tysons Central 7 & Tysons West station sites. All lanes will be maintained; service roads will go away

Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road) Construction Work along Route 123 South • Pier 59 construction: Begin to construct one pier at intersection of Westpark Bridge, next to Route 123 Construction Operations/Tunneling • Intersection of Route 123, between International Drive & Tysons Boulevard • Entrance of the tunnel under the Route 123 & Route 7 interchange Station Work • Caisson work will begin at stations (Summer of 2009)

Dulles MOT (Maintenance of Traffic)for Utility Relocation and Project Construction • No scheduled lane closures during peak rush hours • Access to businesses will remain available during work hours throughout construction • Scheduled lane closures will be communicated in advance • All businesses/residents will be notified in advance through email, direct mail, outreach meetings and advertisement • The Project follows Fairfax County’s noise regulations

Our Commitment • We will do all we can to minimize the construction impact of this work. • All work will be performed in accordance with all applicable Fairfax County noise and environmental regulations. • Each day we will review the previous day’s impact on businesses and neighbors and review precautions to be taken that can minimize impacts during the next shift. • We will work as quickly as possible to complete the work in difficult areas.
