  5. What is QTLS? A status gained after achievement of your initial teacher education qualification 6 month professional development opportunity underpinned by the 2014 professional standards in which you: • critically reflect on your practice to make improvements • show the impact of changes on your practice, learners and organisation • demonstrate how you are continuing to apply the theory/educational research to inform developments in your practice SOCIETY FOR EDUCATION AND TRAINING

Parity with QTS: alignment with the NQT year Shows your commitment, skills and knowledge to employers Provides a structured framework to record and evidence improvements in your practice You can develop your digital skills and work collaboratively with colleagues Recognition of your status as a professional teacher or trainer A progression route to ATS SET administers both QTLS and ATS on behalf of the Education and Training Foundation

I knew I should have been doing this a couple of years ago but had little drive to improve sadly – but QTLS pushed me.   11. When can I start QTLS? SOCIETY FOR EDUCATION AND TRAINING

  12. What do I need to be able to apply for QTLS? ITE qualification at Level 5 or above (Diploma in Education and Training or PGCE) Maths and English qualifications at Level 2 or above Level 3 maths/English if you teach maths/English or ESOL NB: If you provide any evidence in your portfolio of teaching English/maths, L3 is needed A mentor who you can support you throughout the process SOCIETY FOR EDUCATION AND TRAINING

  13. Cost There are two options for making payment of £485: Pay £485 in full by credit/debit card or by one direct debit payment, or 2. Pay £110 as a deposit by credit/debit card + 3 x monthly payments of £125 SOCIETY FOR EDUCATION AND TRAINING

The review and moderation process All reviewers have been through professional formation themselves It is an online process working in My QTLS Each moderator has 5 reviewers and there are 2 lead moderators Tight timescales in working towards final evaluation meeting so that each review is completed within one month Rigorous but flexible: over 80% achievement rates. Steps for applying for QTLS Check your eligibility Join SET Express your interest Choose your registration window and register, paying an initial deposit of £110, setting up direct debit payments (3 x payments of £125) Decide on who will be your supporter Check out the QTLS timeline of activity so that you keep on track Complete your on-line workbook, using the MyQTLS guidance for support Send your completed workbook to us by the deadline date SOCIETY FOR EDUCATION AND TRAINING
