  • www.ci.eugene.or.us launched in 1994

    • All department and division pages looked different

    • Organically, individually developed

    • Library pages had been created independently with a private consultant, and employed frames

    • Library pages were not maintained by anyone but the ILS manager, grabbing content when saw it in print

  • www.eugene-or.gov launched in 2005


Why a portal
Why a Portal?

  • Consistency & branding: Templates for consistent look and feel

    • Navigation

    • Fonts, margins

    • Page styles

  • Lots of built-in tools

    • CMS features, including versioning

    • survey tools

    • collaboration tools promised

  • > 12,000 documents

  • Employment applications are at ~80%

  • In the last FY…

    • 1.4 million visits

    • $1.6 million in business transactions

    • 11,400 parking tickets paid for a total of $259,045.94
