  4. Battle of the Alamo • 1836 Santa Ana marches troops into TX • 187 TX rebels make stand in the Alamo • All 187 die . . . loss for rebels

  5. Battle of San Jacinto • Rebel Sam Houston’s army defeats Santa Ana • Battle cry “Remember the Alamo!” • 1836 Treaty of Velasco – ends war, establishes the Rep. of TX • 1845 TX becomes a state Remember the Alamo! Sam Houston
