  1. 6 Ways to Afford the Dentist

  2. Money Matters - and So Does Your Health • A trip to the dentist doesn’t always come cheap - especially when a routine checkup uncovers something that requires an unexpected treatment. Suddenly, the money that you put aside for your appointment will no longer cover the work that you need to get done, and you can be left out of pocket and worrying about how you’ll afford your treatment. • However, it isn’t the end of the world. There are several ways you can prepare to save money on your dental care - making it affordable for you and for your family.

  3. Ask for a Quote • Many dentists charge a wide range of prices for the same procedures - so if you’re not looking around for different quotes before committing to one place for your treatment, you could end up paying over a hundred dollars more for the exact same procedure. • Asking for a quote beforehand also lets you know exactly what to expect, and allows you to begin putting aside any money you need ahead of time. • At Karalee Family Dental, we’re happy to provide you with a quote - and getting one couldn’t be easier. Simply visit us at our website and contact us from there, or send us a message through our Facebook page and someone will get back to you as soon as possible.

  4. Look at Payment Plans • Too often, patients settle for dental treatments that aren’t what’s best for them, simply because they cannot afford the treatment they truly need. That why some dentists - including Karalee Family Dental - have introduced Payment Plans, to help their patients afford the dental treatment they deserve. • At Karalee Family Dental, we offer Denticare - a dental payment plan with no interest, no contracts, and no credit checks required. Any Australian citizen over the age of eighteen with a source of income is eligible to pay at their own rate, interest-free. • To find out more about Denticare, visit our website today.

  5. See If Your Fund Provider is Accepted • As well as Denticare and other Payment Plans, most all dental facilities will accept Fund Providers, but only some will be preferred providers. • Seek these out - they help you maximise your health fund coverage, making this another great way to save money on your dental treatments. Contact your dentist beforehand to find out whether or not they are a preferred provider or member’s choice provider for your health fund. • At Karalee Family Dental, we accept ALL health fund providers, including yours!Contact us todayto talk to us about how we can help you.

  6. Child Dental Health Benefit Schedule • The Child Dental Health Benefits Scheme assists families with the cost of their children’s dental treatment between the ages of 2 and 17 - up to the cost of $1000 over a two-year period. However, only around 30% of Australian families are aware of the scheme - which means 70% of families are paying for dental care don’t realise they could be getting this government help! • Most families are eligible for the Child Dental Health Benefits Scheme. If you’re unsure about your childrens’ eligibility, take a look at the list. Families that receive any of the below benefits are automatically eligible: • Tax Benefit Part A • ABSTUDY • Youth Allowance • Parenting Payment • Disability Support Pension • Special Benefit • Carer Payment • Double Orphan Pension • Veteran’s Children Education Scheme, if the child is 16 or over • Military Rehabilitation and Compensation Act Education and Training Scheme, if the child is 16 or over The funding can be used for regular check-ups, x-rays, scale and clean, fillings and fissure seals, extractions, among some others. To find out more about the Child Dental Health Benefits Scheme, visit our website.

  7. Start Saving Ahead of Time • One of the worst parts about paying for a dental treatment that comes with a sizeable price tag is being caught off-guard. Many patients are unable to get the treatment they need simply because they can’t afford it - or they have to take a chunk of money out of something else they were saving for. • To combat this, start saving for any unexpected dental or medical treatments ahead of time. You never know when an emergency might strike, so start putting money aside now in order to have some savings ready. That way, you won’t have to cope with the stress of wondering how you’re going to afford your treatment.

  8. Use a Local Dentist Who Cares • When it comes to getting dental treatment, the last thing you want to do is travel. Instead, take a look at your local dentist. • Not only can they save you money, they also understand the value of community, and know how important it is to build strong, meaningful relationships with their patients.
