  1. Mark Cleland British Transport Police Joined British Transport police in 1993 .After graduating in Astrophysics from Cardiff University. He went on to complete an MBA as part of his ongoing professional development before being promoted to Detective Inspector in 2008. He has a mainly operational background, spending most of his service as a Sergeant in a variety of roles from uniform response, priority policing to air support, before moving into criminal investigation in 2007. Mark is a keen advocate of Crimestoppers and is the BTP lead for Crimestoppers in Wales as well as presenting the ITV Wales slot on Sunday evenings to highlight crimes that need solving. As DI, Mark is responsible for all aspects of crime investigation on the railway infrastructure in Wales and has overall responsibility for how BTP tackles the problem of metal theft in The Wales and Western area. Wales has traditionally had a major problem with metal theft and over the years, strategies and tactics developed by Mark have been rolled out as best practice. These tactics have resulted in a significant decrease in metal thefts on the railway at a time when nationally the trend is increasing.
