  1. Personal WatercraftDo’s and Don’ts More Skill, More Fun, Fewer Injuries Summer Campaign 2011

  2. Do’s • Learn how to use the reverse lever. • Never go out without a lifejacket • Always keep your head on a swivel and maintain constant vigilance

  3. Do’s • Never go out after dark • Stay away from other boats, which limit your visibility

  4. Don’ts • Don’t go out on the water without knowing the rules, regulations, and operating characteristics of your PWC. • Don’t ignore signs on the waterway. There are speed limits and “No Wake” zones.

  5. Don’ts • Never mix riding and alcohol. • Don’t get reckless. The leading cause of death in PWC wrecks isn’t drowning but blunt trauma from running into docks, boats, other PWCs or tree stumps.

  6. Thanks to John Mahoney, head of the Communications and Marketing Department at the Naval Safety Center
