  20. Evaluation Evaluation is based on multiple assessments: • All-Star 4 unit tests • Class work and projects • Attendance and participation • Master the language skills criteria of the ESL Model Standards for Intermediate High • CASAS reading tests • All-Star 4 Promotional Test

  21. Passing the Class Students will exit from Intermediate High when they meet the following criteria: • CASAS reading test: • Score 221 or higher • All-Star 4 Promotional Test: • Score 65% or higher • Master the language skills criteria of the ESL Model Standards for Intermediate High

  24. Notify the office of your absence. BESST Center: (949) 515-6996 Whittier: (949) 515-6818 If you are absent without notification for one full week (4 consecutive days), you will be dropped from the class. If you are dropped, you cannot re-enroll until the next session (after 9 weeks) Attendance Policy

  25. Student Rules and Procedures • Children- Please leave children at home. It is a violation of NMUSD Adult School Policy to have children on campus during class time. Some daytime programs may have Infant/Toddler Programs; please follow site policy. • Parking- Please park in the parking lot designated for Adult Education. DO NOT PARK in spaces marked for the Principal or Staff. Do not block driveways. Parking in handicapped spaces is very expensive and against the law if you do not have a clearly displayed handicapped placard. • Trash- Eat in designated areas only. All food wrappings, cups, and trash go into the OUTSIDE trash cans. DO NOT litter or drop your trash in planters or in the parking lot.

  26. Continued (949) 515-6996 • Attendance- Make every effort to arrive at school promptly and attend all classes. The more time you spend in the classroom, the more successful you will be in your learning • Absences- If you are absent for a full week without notifying your teacher or the office, you willbe dropped from the class. If you plan to be absent, tell your teacher to prevent from being dropped. • Cell Phones- Turn off cell phones or set them to vibrate. • Student ID Cards- Carry your Student ID card with you. It is important to have your Student ID #. • Breaks- Break is 15 minutes. Please return from break ON TIME. Do NOT bring food or beverages into class.

  27. Continued • Gum Chewing- There will be NO GUM CHEWING allowed on any Adult Education campus. Teachers will enforce this District-wide policy. • Respect- We expect students to show their respect to their teachers and classmates at all times. Students may be asked to leave if conduct is inappropriate and/or disruptive. • Loitering- There will be no loitering outside classrooms during class. Relatives or friends need to wait for you in their cars or off campus. • Emergencies- You can be reached during class by calling the office. • Smoking- There is NO SMOKING anywhere on school grounds or in school buildings.
