Building Library of Congress Classification Numbers for Life Sciences

This guide outlines the workflow in constructing Dewey Decimal numbers specifically for life science subjects. It details how to find and add starting numbers, navigate through base notations, and verify correctness throughout the number building process. The example entries include various topics, such as rare orchids and reproductive behavior of snakes. Users are instructed on selecting terms for institutional visibility, contributing to Dewey Editors, and ensuring classifications meet library standards while documenting the steps for accuracy.
