  2. Personal History: Early Life • Dayton was born on January 26, 1947 in Minneapolis, Minnesota • Has 3 siblings. • His parents are Gwen and Bruce Dayton • Graduated from Yale in 1969 with a psychology degree • He was married and divorced two times • He has 2 sons from his first marriage

  3. Political Life • Taught 9th grade science • He lived with a family in public housing to learn about their “unfair” situations. • Worked 4 years at a social service agency • 2010 he was elected governor of Minnesota • Sworn in as governor January 3rd, 2011 and was elected to represent Minnesota in the 2000 U.S. Senate

  4. Contribution 1 • Dayton has tried to make legislation that would make prescriptions more affordable

  5. Contribution 2 Worked throughout Minnesota to: • Help local businesses • Create jobs • Improve the government • Improve healthcare • Help public schools get better funding

  6. Lasting Importance Mark Dayton, the governor of Minnesota, has helped the state create jobs, improve the government services, and has also tried to make legislation that would make prescriptions more affordable.
