Salvaging • Section 1100.205 Salvaging • Definition: “Salvaging” means the return of CCDD to use other than use as fill at a CCDD fill operation. • a) All salvaging operations must in no way interfere with the CCDD fill operation, result in a violation of this Part, or delay the construction of final cover. • b) All salvaging operations must be performed in a safe manner in compliance with the requirements of this Part. • c) Salvageable materials: 1) May be accumulated onsite by an owner or operator, provided they are managed so as not to create a nuisance, harbor vectors, cause malodors, or create an unsightly appearance; and 2) May not be accumulated at the facility for longer than one year unless a longer period of time is allowed under the Act or is specified in the permit.

Recycling - Concrete Concrete Recycling • Separate concrete at CCDD fill-site and/or at jobsite for recycling • ACT does not allow concrete w/ protruding metal as CCDD • Recycling concrete w/ Protruding Metal – General Construction & Demolition Debris • 415 ILCS 5/22.38 • Materials • 3” • Grade #9 Crushed Concrete

Recycling – Concrete w/ protruding rebar415 ILCS 5/22.38 • Defined as General Construction or Demolition Debris • Acceptance Must DOs: • Facility boundaries no closer than 1320’ from residential zoned property • Recycle/Transport GCDD w/in 6 months (CCDD – 1 yr.) • Record procedures to demonstrate compliance w/ this section & identify source & transporter • Control dust & noise • Control access to the facility • Submit Facility Information Form to Agency 30 days prior to material acceptance (found online)

  7. Recycling - Asphalt Asphalt Recycling • Separate asphalt at CCDD fill-site and/or at jobsite for recycling • ACT does not allow hot mix and/or cold patch • Materials • Crushed Asphalt

  8. Recycling – Rock/Stone & Soil Rock/Stone & Soil Recycling • Separate & Screen CCDD at source and/or at fill site • Equipment • Power Screen • Trommel • Beneficial Re-Use • Fill Sand • Bedding Stone • Backfill • Topsoil
