Why I chose this topic: • I knew there was a lot of information on the topic. • It was an interesting subject. • The topic easily affected the areas of government, culture, and economy.
Surprising Fact: In the early 1800’s, Americans drank more than five gallons of pure alcohol per person per year, and currently the figure is about two gallons per adult (Carlson 35).
Surprising Fact: The Ku Klux Klan was in support of the Eighteenth Amendment (Rogers 26).
Surprising Fact: Annual sales of bootleg liquor were estimated at $3.6 billion in 1926, which is roughly $43.4 billion in 2010 dollars. This sum was about the same as the federal budget that year (Rogers 28).
Skill The most important skill that I learned was how to find reliable research and efficiently organize my thoughts and main ideas on paper.
