the red wheelbarrow
The Red Wheelbarrow

so much depends

Upon

a red wheel
barrow

glazed with rain
water

beside the white
chickens

Sets the tone for poem. Shows the importance of the wheelbarrow.

The pause between wheel and barrow is to break the images to its most basic parts in order to view the object as closely as possible.

The word glazed gives the reader a closer look on the wheelbarrow. Rain also gives it a new or fresh perspective.

Another color, "white" is used to contrast the earlier red in the second stanza.
