  2. The Resource • Cultural diversity is not something Binghamton has always had, but in modern Binghamton you can see a diverse mosaic of culture, so where did all this culture come from? • A large part of the expanding ethnic diversity in Binghamton can be attributed to the American Civic Association which helps people immigrate into this country. • The ACA has forever changed the demographics in Binghamton and with it the culture, and therefore is a resource that deserves to be given aid to ensure its history is here for future generations to experience.

  3. The idea • With diversity in culture comes diversity in the cuisine that is prepared by locally owned restaurants. • By using this varied palate of food we can play on peoples love of food and use that as a bridge to build cultural understanding and appreciation of the diversity that is now part of Binghamton.

  4. The plan • A ticket will be available at the American Civic Association that will grant the ticket holder a diverse sampling of food from a selection of the many ethnic restaurants throughout Binghamton. • Guests will be taken from location to location by a bus and be served a small meal at each stop. • There will be 3 to 4 locations per event. • Events will run once to twice a month with the selection of restaurants changing monthly.

  5. Money MoneyMoney • This plan requires a very small budget (>10k) and is self sustaining after the kinks are worked out. • Money will be divided between Bus Fees and Participating Restaurants, with all the remaining being donated to the ACA

  6. Who wins Everyone wins! ACA receives donations Local business gets traffic into restaurants Transportation is paid

  7. Who gets logistics? There would need to be an individual or a small group that would coordinate the event, the ideal scenario is if this person/people are volunteers. However that may not be achievable, incentive can be offered to individuals if no volunteers step forward in the form of fiscal reimbursement or a free meal pass. After the initial setup it is hoped that once local restaurants see the benefit to their own business they will develop interest in the program and submit their own name for inclusion without being sought after as well as aid in the planning of the event.
