  2. What is a Ceramic? Many people ask “What is a ceramic?” A ceramic is basically pottery. Ceramics can be industrial and technical items or even a simple decoration. If you still don’t know what ceramics are you will find out

  3. The Materials The materials come from many things such as: Cobalt oxide, iron oxide, dolomite, nickel oxide,quartz, silica flour, sodium carbonate, bentonite and sodium feldspar and many, many more.

  4. How its made First you get a simple ball of clay and then you put the clay on a pottery wheel (or make it your self)then put it in an oven. Pottery is a really fun hobby to have but it takes lots of skill and practice to do.

  5. Who uses ceramics most ? DID YOU KNOW The stone age people were the first to use ceramics. It was nearly 25,000 years ago !!!!!!!

  6. Firing/Drying Clay shrinks during drying an firing processes. It can shrink as less as 4% and as much as 15%. Wet clay has as much as 25% water. When it dry's the water evaporates, and its particles come closer together causing it to shrink. But when the figure dry’s it can sometimes develop cracks.

  7. How Long Is It Used Ceramics can be used for a very long time. It can be used for bowls, flower pots, plates, knifes and more. Sometimes it can take up to 1000 years for a ceramic figure to decompose.
