Army Child, Youth & School Services Character Counts! • Character Counts! emphasizes Six Pillars of Character: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship • Six Pillars of Character mirror The Army values • Many of the country’s leading educational and youth-serving agencies belong to the Character Counts! Coalition, including 4-H and Boys and Girls Clubs of America • Curriculum serves as the framework for “operationalizing” Army values in a meaningful way for children, youth, staff, and parents involved in CYS Services • Trainings for 250 Army staff conducted in 2nd quarter FY 09 • Format was a “train the trainer” system which allows training for the remaining Garrison staff by 4th quarter FY 09
